What are LED Cabinet Lights? — Unveiling the Secrets of LED Cabinet Lights
Have you noticed? Home lighting is no longer just about "turning lights on and off." Light is not only a tool for illumination but also an art of creating ambiance. In modern furniture lighting, localized lighting is receiving increasing attention, and more and more designers are focusing on the role of light in cabinets. LED Cabinet lights are quietly becoming a key detail in enhancing the home's experience and aesthetics. This blog post explores a small part of furniture lighting—LED Under cabinet lights. What are LED cabinet lights? What types are there? How do you choose one? What are their advantages? And what are the installation techniques for cabinet lights? Today, let's unveil the mystery of cabinet lights together.

Phase 1:
01Due to technological limitations in the early stages, most lighting fixtures installed on furniture were for everyday use, which we will refer to here as cabinet lights. Cabinet lights evolved from incandescent bulbs and halogen bulbs to fluorescent bulbs, with no dedicated furniture-specific lights. Due to high energy consumption, short lifespan, and lack of environmental friendliness, they were gradually phased out by the market. Cabinet lights at this stage simply needed to meet the basic need for cooking lighting. The focus was simply on having enough space to accommodate all the utensils; there was no special design or careful planning, resulting in a chaotic mess, with haphazard wiring.

Phase 2:
01With the continuous maturation of LED technology, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs were gradually replaced. LED chips, with their lower energy consumption, higher luminous efficiency, longer lifespan, and smaller size compared to incandescent and fluorescent bulbs, continued to expand the market. During this period, furniture lights mainly used SMD LEDs and PSD LEDs as the primary light source, which were more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient, and had a longer lifespan. However, from a design perspective, although the light source was optimized, the aesthetics and installation of the products did not improve significantly.

Phase 3:
01In recent years, with the rapid development of electronic component packaging technology and LED technology, furniture cabinet lights are now evolving towards being "smaller, more aesthetically pleasing, and more environmentally friendly." The most obvious change is the absence of visible light points, allowing for seamless integration of LED lighting fixtures with furniture. While placing the lights directly on furniture is possible, embedding them into the cabinetry for a perfect integration is undoubtedly more sophisticated. This approach doesn't compromise the overall integrity of the furniture while enhancing its visual appeal. This is the currently popular "seeing the light but not the lamp" lighting design method globally, people often cannot see the lamp itself or any obvious light sources, but they can see soft, non-glaring light.
III. Types of Cabinet Lights
(1) In terms of appearance, there are round spotlights, mini spotlights, square panel lights, LED profile lights, LED strip lights, silicone light strips, etc.
(2) In terms of installation location, there are cabinet interior lights (wardrobe lights, kitchen cabinet lights), cabinet bottom lights, drawer lights, shelf lights (front shelf lights, rear shelf lights), etc.
(3) In terms of sensing method, there are hand-scanning sensors, touch sensors, door-controlled sensors, human body sensors, and intelligent control sensors (controlled by mobile app, voice assistant, remote control, etc., adjusting switch, brightness, and color temperature), etc.
(4) In terms of installation method, there are recessed cabinet lights and surface-mounted cabinet lights (ceiling lights, magnetic cabinet lights, screw-mounted cabinet lights, adhesive-backed installation), etc.
(5) In terms of power supply, there are DC low-voltage power supplies (DC12V/24V cabinet lights), USB power supplies or lights rechargeable via USB interface, and battery-powered lights (built-in lithium battery power supply, no wiring required, aesthetically pleasing and flexible).
